This year marks a very special milestone - the 250th anniversary of the Colonel Cook Farm and the United States. It’s a time to celebrate history, community, and the stories that have shaped us. Whether you’re a history buff, a family looking for a fun day out, or a local wanting to connect with your roots, there’s something for everyone at Cook Farm this year.

What Makes The Cook Farm Celebration Event So Special?


The Cook Farm 250th Celebration is not just any event. It’s a heartfelt tribute to the past, bringing history to life in ways that are both educational and entertaining. Imagine walking through the same fields where Colonel Cook once lived, hearing stories from reenactors, and participating in hands-on activities that make history tangible.


Here’s what you can expect:


  • Historical reenactments that transport you back to the 18th century.

  • Family-friendly activities like storytelling sessions, petting zoo and face painting

  • Local food vendors offering delicious treats inspired by colonial recipes and of course the regular festival fair foods!

The Cook Farm Celebration is an Event You Won’t Want to Miss


Mark your calendars because the lineup for the day is packed with fun and learning! Here are some highlights:


1. Opening Ceremony - Saturday, Aug 8, 2026, 10 AM

Kick off the celebration with a festive ceremony featuring local dignitaries, live music, short parade of historical bands, and a special tribute to Colonel Cook. It’s a perfect way to start the festivities.


2. Colonial Markets-

Step into a bustling colonial marketplace with artisans, food vendors, and live demonstrations. Pick up handmade crafts, sample traditional foods, and chat with reenactors.


3. Family History Day - Family Fun Day

Bring the whole family for a day of historical re enactments, storytelling, and interactive exhibits designed to inspire curiosity about your own roots. There will also be a petting zoo, horse drawn wagon rides, Scottish Highland cattle, and face painting.


4. Music and Entertainment

Throughout the day there will be live entertainment on the back porch and in the big tent. We will have the 42nd Regimental Band which is a civil war band. We also have, Steel Clover, a historical Scottish group, Alex Brown and Fred Adams who are both local historical musicians.


The entire day is designed to be engaging and accessible, so you can join in whether you’re a history expert or just looking for a memorable day out.

How to Make the Most of Your Visit


I want your experience at Cook Farm to be as enjoyable and smooth as possible. Here are some tips to help you plan:


  • Plan ahead for parking - we will have several parking areas - The Washington Township Fire Hall, Hope Church, Rehoboth Church, Marion School and Harmony Acres Farm*. Shuttles will then bring you to the farm.

  • Arrive early to avoid crowds and get the best parking spots.

  • Wear comfortable shoes because you’ll be walking on uneven terrain.

  • Check the weather forecast and dress accordingly. We are a rain or shine event!

  • Download the event schedule - available from our website.

  • Engage with the volunteers and reenactors - they love sharing stories and answering questions.

  • Plan for meals by visiting the food vendors or packing a picnic to enjoy on the farm’s scenic grounds.


If you’re coming with kids, be sure to check out the family-friendly activities and animal areas. They’re designed to be fun and educational, making history come alive for younger visitors.
