Rostraver Township Historical Society presents
The Cook Farm 250th Celebration
August 8, 2026
10am - 7pm

A Legacy That Began in 1776

The Cook Farm was built in 1776 by Col. Edward Cook, a man whose life reflected faith, leadership, and devotion to a young fledgling nation. Important by reason of its connection with the history of Washington Township, Fayette County, and the nation itself, the Cook Farm still stands today as a testament to one man’s faith in God and service to the country.
Col. Cook established one of the first stores in the area, drawing families and travelers from miles around. His home became more than a residence — it became a center of commerce, fellowship, and faith. Later, Col. Cook began holding church services in his home. That gathering of believers eventually grew into what is known today as Rehoboth Presbyterian Church, which remains in operation to this day.
For 250 years, the Cook Farm has represented perseverance, leadership, community, and unwavering belief.
Still in operation today, Mark and Alicia Cook run a small farmers market on the property and plan to expand their farm operations in the coming year — continuing a tradition of stewardship and service that began in 1776.
